It
is said that a Sampraday of the Sanatan Dharma
can only be so called, if it can show an explicit
link to the Vedas and God, through it痴 own
scriptures and teachings.
Swaminarayan Bhagwan has clearly advocated in
His personally written, Shikshapatri that His
adopted scriptures are: the four Vedas, Vyas
Sutra, Shreemad Bhagwat Puran,Vishnu Sahasranaam,
Bhagwat Gita, Vidur Neeti, Vasudev Mahatyam,
Yagnavalkya Smruti (Shikshapatri Shloka 94-95).
Additionally, He further pronounces Ramanuj
Acharya痴 Shree Bhasya on the Vyas Sutra and
Bhagwat Geeta (Shloka 100) as His philosophical
sources.
However, to learn about and understand His own
Sampraday, The Swaminarayan Sampraday, and it痴
own peculiarities, Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan
directs readers of the Shikshapatri towards
the scriptures of the Sampraday (Shloka 204).
